Commercial Finance Manager

We’re looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join our Finance team! Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the position will play a key role in financial reporting, optimising financial processes, and providing insights that support business growth.
About the Role
As the Commercial Finance Manager, you will need to balance a proactive, strategic mindset with hands-on financial expertise to enhance operations and drive sustainable financial performance in an evolving higher education landscape.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
- Acting as a trusted financial advisor to executive leaders, departmental managers, and operational teams across academic and administrative units
- Translating complex financial data into actionable recommendations for non-financial stakeholders
- Preparing and presenting financial reports to senior leadership, board members and key stakeholders
- Align financial strategies with student success, institutional growth, and operational efficiency.
- Supporting the expansion of transnational education (TNE) initiatives, such as offshore campuses, online programs or dual-accredited programs.
- Strengthen internal financial controls and risk management frameworks specific to higher education.
- Develop and manage cash flow forecasting to optimise financial planning and resource allocation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations and reporting efficiency.
- Define, communicate, and execute long-term goals aligned with the College’s strategic priorities and value proposition.
- Strong financial and business insight to drive profitability, sustainability, and competitive advantage.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- CPA/CA qualification with 7+ years of experience in financial accounting, finance management, or controllership roles
- Demonstrated financial management, analytical, and strategic planning capabilities
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and strong Excel/financial modelling skills
- Highly analytical with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, with the ability to influence business decisions
- Leadership presence that inspires and guides teams while influencing key stakeholders.
- Effective communicator, translating complex financial insights into clear, actionable strategies for diverse stakeholders.
- Well-developed influencing and negotiation skills to drive financial initiatives in a collaborative environment
- Experience in higher education finance or demonstrated understanding of the sector's unique financial challenges
