Systems Engineer

We currently have the opportunity for an ITDS Systems Engineer (SE) to join the Professional Services team in a 6-month contract role, reporting to the ITDS Portfolio Delivery Manager. This role will be responsible for building, testing, and deploying applications and associated infrastructure to satisfy UTS College project and business objectives as tasked by the Project Teams & prioritised Business Requests.
About the Role
Responsibilities include:
- Systems Engineer’s primary role is to be the technical escalation point for all Level 2 Systems Engineers, to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the UTS College technical environment.
- This role is autonomous in nature; with the expectation that SEs will proactively manage and maintain the environment.
- The ideal candidate for this position can prioritise critical tasks, innovate and coordinate the construction and expansion of our support systems so that updates and other maintenance tasks don’t get in the way of daily operations, automating as many of our processes as possible to reduce the potential for human error and promote the further development of our staff.
- Familiar with a range of automation tools, and how they support the environment.
- Working with both Virtual and Physical infrastructure.
- You have strong Level 3 Engineering skills and are looking to cement those and participating in projects.
- Someone with an interest in Cyber Security.
About You
You will have a minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a similar technical role within a professional services company with a broad range of expertise, including:
- Microsoft 365 administration and support.
- An in-depth understanding of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems (and supporting technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS).
- Okta.
- VMWare.
- PowerShell scripting knowledge.
- Windows Server and storage administration and support.
- Experience in Networking will be very highly regarded.
- Knowledge and understanding of backup technology provider, preferably Veeam.
- Citrix NetScaler.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
- Experience in SQL server administration will be very highly regarded.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Certifications
The following certifications would put you at an advantage:
- ITIL Foundation v3.
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate/Expert (MCSA/E).
- Azure or Office 365.
- VMWare.
