Academic Teachers (Language & Literacies)

We currently have the opportunity for qualified and experienced Academic Teachers to teach in the Academic Language and Literacies subjects, on a sessional basis in Semester 1, commencing on 23 February 2026.
Academic Language and Literacies subjects are taught across all Diploma programs, providing students with the opportunity to practice and engage with the language and study skills required for undergraduate and further study in their field of study.
About the Role
This position is responsible for:
- Teaching
- Preparing, delivering, and facilitating tutorials and workshops as outlined in the curriculum for the subject each week in subject area of expertise, as agreed with the Senior Academic Coordinator
- Grading assignments, tests, examinations, and other assessment items as required
- Providing detailed, timely, and meaningful feedback to students
- Performing all other teaching-related duties such as preparation for scheduled hours of teaching, administration of student records and informal consultations with students
- General Duties
- Providing early learning support and referrals as needed to UTS College Study Success Advisors
- Participating in a range of agreed professional development activities
- Attending staff and subject meetings as required
- Completing special assignments under the direction of the Senior Academic Coordinator and Program Managers as required
- Team Liaison & Collaboration
- Establishing ongoing channels of communication with Academic Coordinators, Study Success Advisors, Program Managers and academic colleagues to ensure consistent quality of teaching
- Participating in moderation activities

About You
To succeed in this role you must have:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics or a related field (doctoral qualifications preferred)
- 5 years+ experience in a relevant field
- Demonstrated experience of teaching in a higher education environment
- Demonstrated commitment to innovative learning and teaching practices, including a willingness to engage with contemporary approaches to content delivery including blended learning approaches
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple demands to meet deadlines whilst ensuring accuracy
- A NSW Working With Children’s Check
