Business Analyst

We currently have the opportunity for a Business Analyst to join the IT and Digital Services team on a 12-month contract fixed role, reporting to the Systems and Business Analysis Team Leader. This role will primarily work on a significant Student Management system implementation.
About the Role
This position is responsible for:

Requirements Gathering and Analysis: Gather and document business requirements and develop user stories or requirements within agreed timeframes.
- Understand the business objectives to develop business cases
- Use business requirements or user stories to create technical specifications with technical specialists

Business Process Analysis and Improvement: Contribute and maintains standard and guidelines for business process improvement and business analysis techniques for UTS College
- Use various business analysis tools and methodologies to map and understand business processes
- Contribute and maintain UTS College Business Analyst methodologies

Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise between business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
- Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather input, validate requirements, and maintain engagement throughout the project lifecycle.

Solution Design and Validation: Work with IT and development teams to design solutions that meet business needs, adhering to technical constraints and budget.
- Coordinate test strategies and perform testing and validation activities, including user acceptance testing (UAT), to ensure solutions meet specified requirements.

Project Support and Management: Provide support throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring timely issue resolution and change management and requirements traceability.
- Work with both internal and external resources to deliver projects
- Remain abreast of new technologies
- Build effective relationships with all stakeholders using stakeholder management methodologies
- Create process maps with business stakeholders
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, system specifications, and user guides.
About You
To succeed in this role you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 3-5 years of experience in application support or systems analysis.
- Experience with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, etc.) and familiarity with SQL databases, scripting languages, and system integration tools.
- Strong knowledge of system/application troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques.
- Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).
- Demonstrated understanding of, or certification in, ITIL 3 or ITIL 4 or other IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks
- Strong capability with reporting and monitoring tools
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at any given point
- Good stakeholder management skills
- High capability to document business requirements and develop business process maps
- Knowledge of business analysis practices including user stories and Kanban boards
- Good proficiency with tools for modelling
- Problem-solving skills and experience with using structured problem-solving techniques e.g. Kepner-Tregoe.
- Knowledge of Organisation Change Management approaches such as ADKAR
